Why Do We Suddenly Want To Change Our Whole Life At 9:47pm?

No, you're not having a life crisis.

Have you ever found yourself lying on the sofa at about 9:47pm, phone in hand, convinced your entire life needs a complete overhaul?

You've just spent forty-five minutes watching women on Pinterest decant cereal into matching glass jars.

You've somehow ended up researching the "perfect morning routine."

You've watched three videos about resetting your life.

You're convinced a new planner is finally going to be the one.

You've added storage baskets to your online shopping basket.

Looked at holiday villas in Spain.

Thought about cutting your hair.

Started Googling how to start a business.

And somehow you've ended up watching someone reorganise their fridge... despite the fact yours still has half a cucumber that's seen better days.

All before you've even brushed your teeth.

Then, as you're climbing into bed, you've convinced yourself that tomorrow is the day.

Tomorrow you'll wake up at 5am.

Meditate.

Drink lemon water.

Run 10k.

Meal prep.

Declutter the garage.

Become financially independent.

Read twenty books.

Start a side hustle.

And somehow still get the washing done.

Then...

Tomorrow arrives.

You wake up tired.

Someone's lost a school shoe.

The washing machine starts beeping.

Your inbox has exploded.

You haven't had a hot cup of tea since Tuesday.

And suddenly becoming a completely new person doesn't feel quite so urgent anymore.

So what happened?

Why do so many of us have these moments where we're convinced our entire life needs changing?

For years I thought it meant I lacked discipline.

I thought I was flaky.

That I couldn't stick to anything.

That I was one of those people constantly chasing the next new thing because I wasn't grateful for what I already had.

I can't even tell you how many planners I've bought over the years.

Every single one promised to help me become more organised.

Every single one convinced me that this was finally going to be the planner that sorted my life out.

Spoiler alert...

It wasn't the planner.

Looking back, I don't actually think I wanted a completely different life.

I think I wanted a different feeling.

I wanted more breathing space.

More energy.

More joy.

More excitement.

Less mental clutter.

Less pressure.

Less constantly feeling like I was running five minutes behind my own life.

Because let's be honest...

Most women aren't just managing one thing.

We're remembering PE kits.

Replying to WhatsApps.

Booking dentist appointments.

Wondering what's for dinner.

Trying to drink more water.

Trying to exercise.

Trying to remember if we watered the plants.

Trying not to forget someone's birthday.

Trying to remember where we put the library books.

All while convincing everyone around us we've got everything under control.

No wonder our brains occasionally whisper...

"Shall we just start again?"

The funny thing is...

I don't actually think we're trying to escape our lives.

We're trying to escape the way they feel.

And for years, every time I reached one of those "burn it all down" evenings, I'd make another plan.

Another routine.

Another promise to myself.

Another Monday restart.

Because surely the answer was just trying harder.

Except it never lasted.

A few weeks later I'd find myself back on the sofa...

Watching another "Reset Your Life in 7 Days" video.

Saving another twenty Pinterest pins called Life Organisation.

Convincing myself that matching storage containers were probably the missing piece all along.

Again.

The thing that changed everything wasn't finding another planner.

Or becoming more disciplined.

It was realising that I wasn't actually the same person every day.

Some weeks I wake up with ideas pouring out of me.

I could write blogs all morning, film content all afternoon and still have enough energy to reorganise the kitchen cupboards for absolutely no reason.

Other weeks?

Choosing what to have for lunch feels like I've been handed a GCSE exam.

And once I started paying attention, I realised there was a pattern.

My energy wasn't random.

My motivation wasn't random.

Even those evenings where I wanted to reinvent my entire existence weren't random.

That was the moment everything shifted.

Instead of asking,

"What's wrong with me?"

I started asking,

"What does my energy actually need today?"

That sounds like such a small change.

It wasn't.

Because when I stopped expecting myself to operate at full speed every single day, I stopped constantly disappointing myself.

I stopped believing I was lazy.

I stopped believing I lacked motivation.

I stopped believing I was broken.

Instead, I started planning around my energy.

Not pressure.

Not guilt.

Not what I thought I should be capable of.

On my higher-energy days, I create.

I plan.

I batch work.

I get ahead while it feels easy.

Then when my lower-energy days arrive, I don't panic anymore.

I already know they're coming.

I don't suddenly decide I've failed at life because I don't feel like filming videos or smashing a workout.

I adapt.

Because here's something I wish someone had told me years ago...

You're allowed to need different things on different days.

You're allowed to have seasons.

You're allowed to slow down without assuming you're going backwards.

And perhaps those evenings where we're desperately searching for another life hack aren't really about becoming a different person at all.

Maybe they're our body's slightly dramatic way of saying...

"Excuse me... can we change something?"

Maybe we don't need another planner.

Maybe we don't need another productivity hack.

Maybe we don't need to reorganise the spice rack at ten o'clock at night.

Maybe we just need a slower week.

Maybe we don't need to become a completely different person.

Maybe we just need to stop expecting ourselves to be the same person every single day.

These days I still have those 9:47pm moments.

I still occasionally convince myself that a beautifully organised pantry, colour-coded wardrobe and matching glass storage jars will solve all my problems.

But now I smile.

Because I know not to make life-changing decisions from my sofa after 9pm.

I make a cup of tea.

Write the idea down if it still feels important.

Go to bed.

And more often than not...

Everything feels much clearer in the morning.

#If You're Tired Of Feeling Like You're Constantly Starting Over...

I created the Plan By Energy™ Starter Kit for women exactly like us.

Women who are exhausted by the endless cycle of starting fresh every Monday, buying another planner, making another promise to themselves and wondering why nothing seems to stick.

Because here's the thing...

It was never the planner.

The planner was simply asking the wrong question.

Instead of asking,

"What do I need to get done today?"

I believe we should be asking,

"How much energy do I actually have today?"

That one question changed everything for me.

Inside the Plan By Energy™ Starter Kit, I'll show you how to stop planning your life around pressure and start planning around your energy instead.

Because you're not lazy.

You're not inconsistent.

And you're definitely not having a life crisis at 9:47pm.

You might just need a different way of working with yourself instead of constantly against yourself.

And honestly?

That changes everything.

P.S.

If you've already got matching storage jars... you're doing better than me.
