How I Plan My Week Around My Energy (Instead Of My To-Do List)

For years I thought the secret to getting organised was finding the perfect planner.

You know the drill...

I'd buy a beautiful new notebook.

Write colour-coded lists.

Use highlighters.

Maybe even buy matching pens because, obviously, that's what was missing from my life.

For about ten days I'd become that girl.

Then life would happen.

I'd miss one workout.

Forget to tick something off.

Move three tasks onto tomorrow...

...and before I knew it, the planner was living in a kitchen drawer with three blank pages and a layer of guilt.

Sound familiar?

The problem wasn't the planner.

The problem was that I was trying to plan my life as if I had exactly the same energy every single day.

Spoiler alert...

I don't.

Neither do you.

The Biggest Shift I Ever Made

I stopped planning my week around my to-do list.

I started planning around my energy instead.

That one change has probably done more for my consistency than anything else.

Because here's the thing...

Your energy is your greatest resource.

Not your motivation.

Not your willpower.

Not another productivity hack you found on Instagram at 11 o'clock at night while avoiding going to bed.

Your energy.

Now, before anyone panics...

This doesn't mean I only work when I feel like it.

Imagine.

I'd never empty the dishwasher again.

It simply means I work with my body instead of constantly asking it to do something it's not ready for.

Follicular Me Is Basically The CEO

This is my planning phase.

Ideas are flying around faster than I can write them down.

I'm creating content.

Planning projects.

Brainstorming blogs.

Building new things.

This is also when I make colour-coded plans...

...because apparently Follicular Me genuinely believes she's got her life together.

Thankfully...

Luteal Me appreciates that she did.

Ovulation Is My "Let's Get Stuff Done" Week

If you've ever wondered why some weeks filming a Reel feels easy and other weeks you'd rather disappear into a blanket burrito...

Welcome to ovulation.

This is usually when I batch film content.

Record videos.

Take photos.

Have meetings.

Catch up with friends.

If I need confidence...

This is when I borrow it from my hormones.

Luteal Me Is The Editor

People often think luteal phase means doing nothing.

Not at all.

Luteal Me is actually incredibly productive.

She's just productive differently.

This is when I:

  • Edit blogs

  • Reply to emails

  • Finish projects

  • Organise my workspace

  • Meal prep

  • Do all those jobs that Follicular Me enthusiastically started

She's basically the project manager cleaning up after everyone else.

I've also learned not to schedule anything that requires excessive enthusiasm during the last few days of my luteal phase, if I can help it.

Parents' evenings.

Dentist appointments.

Phone calls I've been putting off.

Anything involving customer services.

Let's just say... they're all much nicer when Follicular Me deals with them.

Menstrual Me Gives Herself Permission To Reset

For me, my lower-energy days don't magically start the moment I ovulate.

They usually arrive during the last five days of my luteal phase and continue into the first couple of days of my period.

That's when I naturally slow down.

And here's something that's really important...

That doesn't mean your cycle will look the same.

One of the biggest misconceptions about cycle syncing is that every woman should feel the same thing on the same day.

We don't.

Some women feel amazing right up until their period arrives.

Others notice their energy dip much earlier.

Some only have one or two slower days each month.

That's why I always say there's no such thing as the perfect cycle.

Cycle syncing isn't about following somebody else's timeline.

It's about learning your rhythm.

For me, those last few luteal days and the beginning of my period are when I know my body needs a little more kindness.

So instead of filling my diary with big jobs, I use that time to review the month, reflect on what's gone well, journal, stretch, go for a walk or simply enjoy a slower pace.

Sometimes I still work.

Sometimes I don't.

The difference is...

I no longer feel guilty about it.

The Funny Thing About Planning By Energy...

I actually get more done now.

Not because I'm constantly working.

Because I'm working at the right times.

Instead of forcing myself through my lower-energy days and burning out completely, I use my higher-energy phases to get ahead.

That way, when those last few luteal days roll around, I already know what's coming.

There's no panic.

No guilt.

No trying to sprint uphill wearing emotional ankle weights.

Just a quiet confidence that this is part of my rhythm.

And in a few days, my energy will come back.

It always does.

Your Planner Should Work For You

Traditional planners are brilliant...

...if your energy stays the same every day.

Mine doesn't.

Yours probably doesn't either.

That's exactly why I created the Plan By Energy™ Planner.

Instead of asking,

"What do I have to do today?"

it encourages you to ask,

"How much energy do I have today... and what does my body need from me?"

Because that answer changes everything.

Some days your body says,

"Let's build something amazing."

Other days it says,

"Let's fold the washing, make a cup of tea and call that a win."

Both count.

Both are productive.

Both move you forward.

Ready To Start Planning By Energy?

If you've ever abandoned another planner because life got in the way, maybe you don't need more discipline.

Maybe you just need a planner that works with your body instead of against it.

The HerRhythm Plan By Energy™ Planner was created to help you:

✔ Plan around your natural energy levels

✔ Stop feeling guilty for slowing down

✔ Stay consistent without burning out

✔ Build routines that actually last

Because consistency doesn't come from doing more.

It comes from understanding your rhythm, knowing when to push... and knowing when to pause.

And honestly?

That's a much nicer way to live.
